Who else but Queen Elizabeth has a truly impressive collection of jewelry? We showcase the most valuable and exquisite tiaras, dazzling necklaces, and colorful diamond earrings that have been stored in Her Majesty's treasure vault.
Over the course of several hundred years of British monarchy and 70 years of Elizabeth's reign, an impressive collection of jewelry has been amassed by Her Majesty. Some of the Queen's treasures were specially created for her, while others were inherited from a long line of monarchs (who were also fond of sparkling diamonds). Let's take a peek into Her Majesty's boundless treasure trove and reveal her favorite pieces that she regularly wore.
The Vladimir Tiara was one of Elizabeth II's favorites. The tiara features an impressive design of 15 diamond rings with drop-shaped pearls. During the reign of Maria Feodorovna in 1924, the tiara was modified to have removable stones, which could be replaced with drop-shaped emeralds. Originally, the iconic tiara was commissioned by Prince Vladimir Alexandrovich as a wedding gift for his bride, Maria Pavlovna, in 1874. The jewelry was designed by the jeweler Karl Eduard Bolin. During the 1917 revolution, the tiara was hidden along with other precious gems in the Vladimir Palace in Petrograd and later stolen by Albert Stopford, a British art dealer and secret agent, on the instructions of Maria Pavlovna herself. After the princess's death, the tiara, along with other jewels, was passed down to her daughter, Princess Elena Vladimirovna, who sold it to Queen Mary in 1921 for £28,000. It's no wonder that such a precious jewel with such a complex and long history of travels caught the eye of Elizabeth II.
