Fall fashion lovers might already be eagerly anticipating the new season, but Sabato De Sarno, creative director of Gucci, believes summer is not yet over. Presenting the spring 2025 collection at the Triennale Milano, De Sarno took inspiration from "the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day." The venue was transformed into a spectacle of graduated sunset colors, setting the stage for the collection.
Debbie Harry, Julia Garner, Gabbriette, Nara, Lucky Blue Smith, and Dakota Johnson were among the esteemed guests who witnessed the collection. According to the designer's show notes, "casual grandeur" was the focal point, with an emphasis on Gucci's signature themes: the '60s, tailoring, lingerie, and leather.
The collection showcased a uniform fit for a nonchalant jet-setter. Models donned low-slung trousers paired with relaxed tanks, draped cutout gowns in jersey fabric, daring sheer lace pieces, and baggy jeans styled with floor-sweeping trenches. Gucci's iconic deep red color, known as Gucci Rosso Ancora, and chartreuse hues added a vibrant touch.
The vacation vibes were evident through the incorporation of sun hats, oversized sunglasses, and the jet-set Gucci Flora headscarves. For evening wear, the collection featured twinkling Gatsby dresses and coats embellished with glittering fringe, accompanied by coordinating bags.
De Sarno paid homage to Gucci's heritage by reimagining the Bamboo bag and the Horsebit motif, while introducing the new Gucci Go bag. The Bamboo handle also influenced the design of sculptural bracelets gracefully adorning the models' arms and modernist tubular chokers, beautifully blending the past and the present.
